Front Pricing Explained: What Seats and AI Really Cost (2026)

Front logo on a white card under a magnifying glass, for a breakdown of Front pricing

Introduction

Front pricing starts with a friendly number. The plan card says $25 a seat, and for a small team that only needs a shared inbox, that’s roughly what you’ll pay.

Switch Front’s AI on and the bill changes shape. Copilot, Front’s drafting assistant, is $20 a seat on top. Autopilot, its AI agent, is charged per conversation, at one of three prices depending on what it does.

A 15-person team on Professional with Copilot and 1,000 Autopilot conversations a month (half of them resolved by Autopilot, as in our worked examples) pays about $1,850 a month on annual billing, and about $2,150 on monthly billing. The “per seat” figure on the plan card isn’t a good guide to that.

This guide covers every Front plan on both billing cycles, what each AI add-on costs and which plans include it. It then explains how Autopilot decides which price to charge, the fine print (seat caps, onboarding fees, renewal rules) and worked totals for three team sizes.

Every price was checked on Front’s pricing page and in its help centre on 1 October 2026. One disclosure: we make ResponseAssistant, which drafts replies inside Front, so we’ve kept our own case to one clearly marked section at the end, and we say where Front’s own AI is the better pick.

Front Pricing at a Glance

Front has three plans, all priced per seat per month, and no free plan. Enterprise is sold on annual billing only.

Plan Per seat, billed annually Per seat, billed monthly Seats Front AI included
Starter $25 $35 Up to 10 Topics, Compose, Translate, Summarize
Professional $65 $85 Up to 50 Topics, Compose, Translate, Summarize
Enterprise $105 Annual only No published cap All of the above, plus Copilot, Smart QA and Smart CSAT
Front AI add-ons Copilot $20, Smart QA $20, Smart CSAT $10 per seat (QA and CSAT together $25) Same Starter and Professional Included on Enterprise
Front Autopilot $0.05, $0.39 or $0.89 per conversation Same Every plan, including Enterprise Never included

Prices from front.com/pricing and help.front.com, checked 1 October 2026. All figures in US dollars, before tax.

The short version:

  • Seats are simple but capped. Starter stops at 10 seats and Professional at 50, so growing teams move up a plan.
  • Front’s drafting AI is a per-seat add-on. Copilot costs $20 a seat on Starter and Professional and is included on Enterprise.
  • Front’s AI agent is billed per conversation on every plan. Autopilot charges $0.05, $0.39 or $0.89 per conversation, depending on how far it gets.
  • Monthly billing costs more than the badge suggests. Front advertises “SAVE 24%” on annual, but monthly Starter is 40% more than annual.

How Much Does Front Cost? Every Plan in 2026

Front costs $25, $65 or $105 per seat per month on annual billing, or $35 and $85 a seat on monthly billing for Starter and Professional. Enterprise can’t be bought monthly. There’s no free plan, but Front offers a 14-day trial of its Professional features with no card required. Here’s what each plan gets you.

Front pricing plans on front.com, annual billing: Starter $25, Professional $65 and Enterprise $105 per seat a month

Starter: $25 per seat ($35 monthly), up to 10 seats

Starter is a shared inbox and ticketing for small teams that use one type of channel. Front’s FAQ says Starter “only supports a single channel type of Email, Front Chat, or SMS”, so you can connect up to 10 channels per seat (several email addresses, say), but not email and chat together. You get up to 10 automation rules, one workspace, basic analytics and a public knowledge base of up to 1,000 articles (with Front branding you can’t remove). The API allows 50 requests a minute.

Professional: $65 per seat ($85 monthly), up to 50 seats

Professional is where Front becomes omnichannel: email, SMS, social and WhatsApp in one inbox. It adds macros and up to 20 rules, advanced analytics, up to five workspaces, SSO and SCIM, and doubles the API limit to 100 requests a minute. Front marks the AI add-ons as available here, but none are included.

Enterprise: $105 per seat, annual only

Enterprise adds smart rules, unlimited rules and macros, a multi-language knowledge base and custom roles. It’s also the only plan that includes Front’s per-seat AI: Copilot, Smart QA and Smart CSAT. Front labels it “Most popular”. There’s no seat cap on the page, and the seat minimum is a conversation with sales.

Monthly Billing and Other Paid Extras

A note on Front’s “SAVE 24%” badge. It matches Professional, where $65 against $85 saves 23.5%. On Starter, annual billing saves 28.6% ($25 against $35), so paying monthly costs 40% more. If you’re comparing Front app pricing with a tool that only shows annual prices, check you’re comparing like with like.

Two other paid extras sit outside the AI menu. Native WhatsApp (Professional and Enterprise) is billed at Meta’s WhatsApp rates plus a 20% admin fee. You can also raise your API limit for $200 a month per extra 100 requests a minute, up to six times. Colleagues who only need to comment on a particular conversation can be invited to it as free guests, but Front has no cheaper light or view-only seat.

Front AI Pricing: Copilot, Smart QA and Smart CSAT

Front’s AI comes in three layers, priced three different ways.

Some AI is included on every plan. Topics (what customers contact you about), Compose, Translate and Summarize are on Starter, Professional and Enterprise. Front’s pricing page caps Compose and Summarize at 200 uses per teammate a day.

The agent-side AI is a per-seat add-on. Front Copilot answers questions about the customer and their history, finds similar past conversations and articles, and drafts replies “from past conversations, knowledge base articles, and external sources”. A teammate is always in the loop: it drafts, you decide. It costs $20 per seat per month on Starter and Professional, with a limit of 200 drafting requests per user per day.

Smart QA ($20 a seat) scores conversations against your QA scorecards, and Smart CSAT ($10 a seat) estimates customer satisfaction without a survey; together they’re $25 a seat. All three are included on Enterprise.

Chart: one Front seat with Front AI added costs $70 on Starter, $110 on Professional and $105 on Enterprise

The per-seat maths has a twist. Professional with Copilot and Smart QA costs $105 a seat, exactly the Enterprise price, and Enterprise includes Smart CSAT as well. Add the QA and CSAT bundle instead and Professional costs $110 a seat, $5 more than Enterprise. So if your team wants all of Front’s per-seat AI, price Enterprise before you buy add-ons on Professional.

Front doesn’t say whether add-ons must cover every seat or only the seats you choose, so check that with Front before you assume a partial rollout. Older accounts on legacy Growth or Scale plans can also buy Copilot at $20 a seat.

The customer-facing AI is billed per conversation. That’s Autopilot, covered in the next section.

How Front Autopilot Pricing Works

Autopilot is Front’s AI agent. It can tag and route conversations, run step-by-step workflows that Front calls Playbooks, draft suggested replies, and answer customers by itself, including on a website chat channel called Autopilot Resolve. It’s an add-on on every plan, including Enterprise, and it’s priced by outcome.

Front's Autopilot outcome-based pricing: Triage $0.05, Handoff $0.39 and Resolution $0.89 per conversation

The pricing card only says “Starting at $0.05 /conversation”. The full price list sits behind the small info icon next to it, and in Front’s Autopilot help article:

Front Autopilot outcome What Front says it means Price per conversation
Triage Organises the conversation: “routing, summarizing, tagging, and otherwise classifying”. Excludes drafting and replying $0.05
Handoff “Executes one or more tasks that end in human takeover as intended by you”, such as gathering details or drafting a reply first $0.39
Resolution “Fully resolve the conversation without any human replies” $0.89

Each conversation is charged once, at the highest outcome it reaches. A conversation that Autopilot tags and then resolves costs $0.89, not $0.94.

What counts as a Resolution

This is the rule that matters most, and it’s easy to miss. Front’s help article says a conversation is resolved “if there is no follow-up message from a teammate within 24 hours” on Resolve, SMS, WhatsApp and custom channels, or within 72 hours on email and portal.

So the test is your team’s silence, not the customer’s thanks. If a customer emails, Autopilot replies, and nobody on your team writes back in the next three days, Front counts a Resolution and charges $0.89, whether the customer was happy or simply gave up. That’s a change: in February 2026, Front’s earlier wording counted a Resolution when the customer sent no follow-up.

You aren’t charged for an outcome when a teammate cancels the automation before it finishes (a conversation already triaged still costs $0.05), when the customer asks to talk to a human instead of continuing, or when Autopilot fails on Front’s side.

Buying, trials and limits

  • Self-serve. Front’s help article says any plan, including legacy plans, can switch Autopilot on in billing settings, even though the pricing card says “Talk to Sales”.
  • Trial. 30 days “with full access to all Automations and up to 1000 Resolutions”. If you don’t opt in to the paid version, your Autopilot rules, Playbooks and Resolve channels stop running.
  • Billing. Pay-as-you-go, invoiced monthly on actual usage. Front offers volume discounts for prepaid commitments but doesn’t publish them.
  • Spending limits. Billing settings show an estimate of the month’s usage. To set a maximum number of conversations, you have to contact Front.
  • Scope. Shared inboxes only, and English is the only officially supported language.

What 1,000 Front Autopilot conversations cost

Front’s homepage promises to “Resolve up to 70% of requests with AI”, but Front doesn’t publish an average resolution rate. So here’s what 1,000 conversations a month cost at three different outcome mixes:

Outcome mix (resolved / handed off / triage only) Resolutions Handoffs Triage Monthly Autopilot cost Per conversation
30% / 30% / 40% 300 x $0.89 = $267 300 x $0.39 = $117 400 x $0.05 = $20 $404 $0.40
50% / 30% / 20% 500 x $0.89 = $445 300 x $0.39 = $117 200 x $0.05 = $10 $572 $0.57
70% / 20% / 10% 700 x $0.89 = $623 200 x $0.39 = $78 100 x $0.05 = $5 $706 $0.71

Front’s published tiers; mixes are illustrative. Prepaid volume discounts not included.

Like any per-outcome price, the better Autopilot performs, the more it costs, and the bill moves with your volume every month.

Per Seat, Then Per Outcome: How Front Pricing Changed

If a colleague quoted you different plan names or an AI price of $0.70, they weren’t wrong, just out of date. Front’s pricing has changed shape several times, and plenty of pricing pages still show the old model.

  • 2022: Front’s plans became Starter, Growth and Scale (archived 4 July 2022), with Starter at $19 per seat on annual billing. A fourth plan, Premier, arrived in March 2023 at $229 a seat, and Growth rose from $49 to $59 by May 2023.
  • May 2024: AI Answers, Front’s earlier AI chatbot (listed in beta since February 2024), was priced at “$0.70/resolution” for live chat (archived 6 May 2024).
  • July 2025: today’s Starter, Professional and Enterprise plans replaced Growth, Scale and Premier, Starter rose from $19 to $25 a seat on annual billing, and Copilot, Smart QA and Smart CSAT were priced per seat (first archived 31 July 2025).
  • November 2025: Autopilot replaced AI Answers on the pricing page at “$0.89 / resolution” (archived 5 November 2025). Front’s AI Answers article now says it “is no longer available for purchase”.
  • February to May 2026: Autopilot’s price was replaced by “Contact us for pricing” (archived 5 February 2026).
  • By June 2026: the current three outcome tiers appeared (archived 12 June 2026).

So a guide that says Autopilot is “$0.89 per resolution” was right in late 2025. Today, Autopilot charges per conversation, and it also charges for handoffs and triage, not just resolutions.

The Fine Print That Changes Your Bill

The seat cliffs at 10 and 50 seats

Starter allows 10 seats and Professional 50. The 11th person moves the whole team to Professional: 10 Starter seats cost $250 a month on annual billing, while 11 Professional seats cost $715, a 186% jump for one hire. At 51 seats, Professional’s $3,250 becomes Enterprise’s $5,355, up 65%. With Copilot on every seat, that second cliff is smaller (up 26%, from $4,250), because Enterprise includes Copilot.

Chart of Front's monthly seat bill by team size, jumping at seat 11 ($250 to $715) and seat 51 ($3,250 to $5,355)

Front requires onboarding above $25,000 a year

Front’s pricing FAQ says: “we require an onboarding package be purchased for contracts over $25k.” On list prices, that’s 33 Professional seats, 25 Professional seats with Copilot, or 20 Enterprise seats. Front’s Success Services sheet, linked from the same FAQ, prices its Professional Onboarding package at $10,000 and its Enterprise Onboarding package, required above $75,000 a year, at $23,000. Both are sold on Professional and Enterprise plans: contract size, not plan name, decides which you need.

You can add seats any time, but only remove them at renewal

New seats are charged pro rata from the day you add them. Removing one is different: Front’s billing article says “Downgrades cannot be made before your renewal date”, and there’s no refund or credit for the unused time. Payments are non-refundable if you cancel early, too. Plan for your low season, not your peak.

One plan for everyone

Plans are set at the organisation level, so you can’t put five power users on Professional and the rest on Starter. Every seat is on the same plan.

What Front Costs in Practice: Worked Examples

Here’s what Front pricing adds up to for three teams. The Autopilot figures use the middle mix from the table above: 50% resolved, 30% handed off and 20% triage only.

Team Plan and seats Front AI add-ons Front Autopilot Monthly total, annual billing Monthly total, monthly billing
5 people Starter: 5 x $25 = $125 Copilot: 5 x $20 = $100 Not used $225 $275
15 people Professional: 15 x $65 = $975 Copilot: 15 x $20 = $300 1,000 conversations = $572 $1,847 $2,147
30 people Enterprise: 30 x $105 = $3,150 Included 3,000 conversations = $1,716 $4,866 Annual only

Seat and add-on prices from front.com/pricing; Autopilot at Front’s published tiers; 1 October 2026. Before tax and any discounts.

On the 15-person team, Autopilot is the second-biggest line on the bill, ahead of Copilot. The 30-person team’s seats come to $37,800 a year, over the $25,000 onboarding threshold, so its first year also includes a $10,000 onboarding package: about $68,400 in total. If you’d like to see how these models compare with flat fees and per-resolution pricing elsewhere, our guide to AI chatbot pricing puts them side by side.

Is Front Worth It?

For teams that run support through a busy shared inbox, often yes. Front is built around collaboration: comments, shared drafts, assignments and rules across email, chat, SMS and social, and it’s popular with teams where support, sales and operations all answer customers. Front says it’s trusted by more than 9,300 companies.

Whether Front pricing is good value depends mostly on team size and AI. Front’s entry price matches simpler help desks, but its multi-channel plans cost more. Help Scout, for example, is $25, $45 and $75 per user on annual billing (checked 1 October 2026) (see our Help Scout pricing breakdown), against Front’s $25, $65 and $105. Front’s 10-seat cap on Starter also pushes growing teams up a plan sooner.

Users say much the same. Fans like how familiar it feels: one r/CustomerSuccess user found that “because it looks like Gmail it’s easier to get “casual” users to use it”. The complaints are about cost growing with headcount. In a 2025 r/sysadmin thread asking for alternatives, the original poster, with 55 users, said they were “Spending like 35k a year on it, just to make comments on emails”, and a five-year customer called its “escalating cost” “a significant concern”.

It suits teams that:

  • Want email, chat, SMS and WhatsApp in one collaborative inbox, with rules and workspaces to match
  • Are heading for Enterprise anyway, where Copilot, Smart QA and Smart CSAT come included
  • Want an AI agent that runs workflows, not just answers questions, and are happy to pay per outcome

It suits some teams less well:

  • Small teams that need more than one type of channel, since Starter allows one and Professional is 2.6 times the price
  • Teams close to 10 or 50 seats, or with seasonal swings, since on annual billing seats can only be removed at renewal
  • Teams that want a fixed monthly AI bill, since Autopilot charges move with volume and outcome

AI Drafts Inside Front: Copilot or a Second Option

This is where we come in, so treat this section as us making our own case.

ResponseAssistant drafts replies inside Front. You connect it to Front in a few clicks, choose which inboxes it drafts in, and it writes draft replies straight into those conversations for your team to review, edit and send. It learns from your team’s past replies first, then from your knowledge base, so the drafts follow how your team answers. Our guide to connecting Front to Resolve247 walks through the setup.

To be straight about price: if AI drafts are all you want, Front Copilot is cheaper per seat. It’s $20 a seat, against our plans from $35 a month ($29 on annual billing) with one seat included and $30 for each extra seat. And if you’re on Enterprise, Copilot is already included.

Price isn’t the whole story, though. One of our customers recently retried Front’s Copilot and went back to Resolve247 because of the better-quality drafts we provide. The fairest test is to run both on the same week of real tickets and count how many drafts your team sends with only light edits.

Every plan also includes our AI chatbot for your website. It runs as its own widget rather than inside Front Chat, and it comes with a fixed monthly allowance of AI messages (each AI reply is one message) instead of a charge per conversation. When a visitor wants a person, your team gets the conversation by email or Slack.

To be fair, Copilot is the better pick if you’re on Enterprise or want the cheapest drafts per seat, and Autopilot is the better pick if you want an agent working inside Front’s own channels. If draft quality is what matters most to your team, ResponseAssistant is worth testing side by side with Copilot. To try it, start a free 30-day trial, no card required.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the Front app cost per month?

Front pricing is $25 per seat per month on Starter, $65 on Professional and $105 on Enterprise when billed annually. On monthly billing, Starter is $35 and Professional is $85 per seat; Enterprise is annual only. Starter allows up to 10 seats and Professional up to 50. Copilot, Smart QA and Smart CSAT cost extra on Starter and Professional (they’re included on Enterprise), and Autopilot is billed per conversation on every plan.

Is the Front app free?

No. Front has no free plan, but it offers a 14-day free trial of its Professional plan features with no credit card required. The trial is limited to 15 teammates, five workspaces, 30 channels and 5,000 messages. Colleagues who only need to comment on a particular conversation can be invited to it as free guests.

How much does Front’s AI cost?

Topics, Compose, Translate and Summarize are included on every Front plan. Copilot costs $20 per seat per month, Smart QA $20 and Smart CSAT $10 (or $25 for both) on Starter and Professional, and all three are included on Enterprise. Autopilot, Front’s AI agent, is billed per conversation on every plan.

How much does Front Autopilot cost per conversation?

Front Autopilot costs $0.05 per conversation for Triage, $0.39 for a Handoff and $0.89 for a Resolution, charged once at the highest outcome reached. A Resolution means no teammate follows up within 24 hours on Autopilot Resolve (Front’s AI chat), SMS, WhatsApp and custom channels, or 72 hours on email and portal. It’s pay-as-you-go, with a 30-day trial of up to 1,000 resolutions.

Is Copilot included in Front’s Enterprise plan?

Yes. Copilot, Smart QA and Smart CSAT are all included in Front’s Enterprise plan at $105 per seat per month on annual billing. On Starter and Professional, Copilot is a $20 per seat add-on. Autopilot is not included on any plan, including Enterprise, and is billed per conversation.

Is Front worth the investment?

For teams that work a busy shared inbox across several channels, usually yes, especially on Enterprise where the per-seat AI is included. Smaller teams that need more than one type of channel, or that sit near the 10- and 50-seat caps, should price the next plan up before committing, because seats can only be removed at renewal.
